060922: No Vanikapila This Week – Concert Update . . .

Aloha,

For those of you attending the Ken Concert, Potluck, Kanikapila. Because of the extreme heat conditions Carolyn and Ken will be changing the schedule of events up a little bit.

Do potluck first and guests can eat and gather in the cooler spots of the yard. Then Ken plays. Break for dessert. Then Kanikapila.

If someone is not hungry they can eat dinner at dessert break. This way the food will not spoil in the heat.

So in short, we start around the same time but now the order of events are Potluck, Ken Concert, dessert break/dinner for those who want and then Kanikapila.

Be sure to bring your music stands, Big Flight Manual, music lights, book clips, etc. , etc. , etc. as Yule Brenner would say . . .

Btw, we’ll be playing at the Marin County Fair, July 2, 11:30a-12:30p this year. Tickets are limited so please RSVP / ASAP, by sending me an email: kaleikoa@piko.ws, if you want to perform on stage with us.

They are encouraging the audience to bring their own Ukuleles so they can Kanikapila us! How cool is that?

As with previous County Kanikapilas, I’ll be providing song books to the both the UFOhana on Stage and for the audience.

More details to come . . . I know return you to your regular programming . . .

Mahalo,

straining for a breath,
each a request for release,
then one silent sigh . . .

My father, Delfin De la Cruz, Sr., passed today at 6:15pm our time. He was 90 years old. Though I could not be at his side. I witnessed his passing through a “Daddy Cam” my sister had setup and was actually able to communicate with them. The only thing missing was being able to touch him. Though my brothers and sisters made sure to touch and kiss him for me. I was able to send him one last, “I Love You Dad” before he passed. My sister, Susan, said he actually tried to open his eyes when he heard my voice . . . a father to the end.

On behalf of Familia Medina, Linda and Myself, I wish to extend a Maraming Salamat Po (Thank You very much) to the UFOhana for all your prayers and mana you sent to my Tatay (Father) during his final journey home. He worked hard for most of his 90 years to support his family of 6 children and 13 or so grand and great grand children. Working through 4 Careers, until our higher power told him it was finally time to retire . . . once last time.

Rest well my dear father and thank you for sharing your love and name with me.
