082321: EONOK aka Vanikapila 35.21

BOT:

Aloha Ahi Ahi UFOhana,

Good Evening UFOhana! Here we are, coming up on another month’s end. It’s been almost two years of battling COVID. This Delta Variant’s tough but with everyone’s help we can certainly gain some kind control over it. We certainly did with the non-variant strain and managed to gain back some semblance of a “new normal”. Keep vigilant everyone! Practice safe socializing!

Speaking of “new normal” , the end of the month is our new normal/monthly Evening Outdoor Vanikapila (aka EOMOK). Which means we’ll be streaming from 6:30pm – 10pmish Saturday, instead of our usual 11a-1pm time slot.

Click here to register for the event if you’re interested in joining in.

Remember, YOU MUST BE FULLY VAXED TO ATTEND TO ATTEND EOMOK. We’ll be celebrating both August and September Birthdays at this EOMOK. Don’t forgot to bring a tasty Pot Luck to share with your ‘Ohana!

Btw, did you know that today is the Birthday of the Ukulele’s introduction to Hawai’i? Click here to read about it on James Hill’s 1879 site. You might want to check his line of 1879 Ukulele Wear while you’re there along with his fabulous online Ukulele Courses.

Getting back to our normal blog post . . . click below to view videos and images from last week’s Vanikapila. Mahalo to the K’ULU Kahunas and Murphy for keeping the livestream green and healthy!

Mahalo to Pauline, Don and the OK Menehune for setup and tear down!

And our EOMOK, End Of Month Outdoor Kanikapila below.

Aloha Kakou,

Hope this finds you all well, COVID free and staying out of the smoke. It’s actually starting to smell / feel like the Big Island during Pele’s volcanic activities.

We had issues with the video stream during last week’s LiveStream. But strangely enough, when I checked it tonight, it seemed the audio made it to YouTube ok and just video was hung. Even weirder is that we actually had 29 Views? Go figga . . . das why hard sometimes ya?

Sorry about the da ‘kine pidgin relapse.

Speaking of which. Someone sent me this article on CNN.COM:

Anyway, let’s all pray to the Great Tech Kahuna – Murphy, in hopes that the Comcast and YouTube powers malama pono us this week.

Text me at 4153007804 if you’ll be attending this week’s Vanikapila and Linda at 4155721175 for song requests or comments if you can’t get through via Chat on UToooob.

Janine (aka AnnieOtter on LiveStream Chat) suggested the following fun blast from the past for the Ohana . . . Mahalo Janine.

Btw, are they singing about Buffalo/Bison, is “Let’s not be L-Seven” = “Let’s not be a square?” Inquiring minds want to know . . .

The first page is the actual key Sam the Sham and the Pharaohs sing in. Which means you can play along with their video below.

The second page is in F which at first thought would be a more Ukulele Finger Friendly key. But if you look at the chord structures, it’s really not that much different from F# (the Artist’s original key). Only the C vs C# might be be a little different, of which I’ve included two versions of. The C/C# higher up the fretboard (barred) actually sounds a little better than the Finger Friendly version. Where it might help, I’ve included timing strokes (1 beat per stroke), though you may find that various versions of his video recordings may differ slight in phrasing and timing counts.

I’ll leave it up to whomever to find the perfect combination of Finger / Voice Friendly key . . . though I do enjoy playing along Sam and his Pharaohs in F# . . . but that’s just me.

Btw, we are having our monthly EOMOK (End Of Month Outdoor Kanikapila), Saturday the 28th. Click here for details and to register for the event.

Ok it’s getting to be that time of the night when typing accuracciop, typing accccksracy, tipping rccsaoiopd . . . I no can type no mo . . .
