Aloha Ahi Ahi UFOhana,
I hope you’re all staying warm this cold, but at least dry, night.
But you can see below we had plenty of puuwai pumehana (warm hearts) this past Saturday.

Mahalo nui loa to those of you who attended the AVDAP (After Valentine’s Day After Party) and shared your delicious finger foods and Aloha with your ‘Ohana.
Mahalo to Nohea for documenting the event and for the Heartful Decorations.

Below the link to this week’s Vanikapila. We have a lot of event coming up. Click here to view them all.
Some of you may have heard that one of our UFOhana Pilot, Wikio (aka Wally Murray), is currently in the hospital. Please add him to your prayers and send plenty healing Mana his way for a speedy recovery. Malama Pono Wikio!
I don’t how many of you may remember Bud Hendrick from our early UFOhana Days. I believe he started with us in 2007.
Bud passed away this morning after having spent his 90+ years living a very full life as a surfer, U.S. Marine, becoming the second American Bull Fighter in Spain, Sydney Franklin from Brooklyn, whom Bud met when in Spain, being the first. I still have a photo of Bud in full regalia challenging a bull, he was also a Sea Captian piloting the Mayan for Crosby, Stills and Nash, an accomplished Luthier (there’s a photo of him below of one of his Ukulele), he did roller derby, was a birder, raced dirt bikes with the Checkers. He told me he rode an Indian Motorcycle from the tip of South America to Alaska, just because. He was an accomplished and published, underwater photographer, abalone diver and a loving husband to Casi, caring father to Toyoko and a beloved member of the UFOhana.
Here are some of my memories of Bud and his days with the UFOhana.

I was contacted this past week by his friend, David Weinstock, of his failing health and I tried to organize an away team to play for Bud . . . but, as John Pedersen put it, after his visit with him, “He’s near the door.” Apparently Bud was in a lot of pain being heavily medicated.
So this morning I got the news from Toyoko and David.
I guess Bud knocked and God said come on in . . .
We’ll miss you Bud, we all hope to live a life half as full as yours, and we are honored to have had you as a member of the Ukulele Friends Ohana.
Na ke Akua e hoʻopōmaikaʻi iā ʻoe e kuʻu hoaaloha (God bless you my friend).

And United States Marine!
Thanks Tucker.
Wish I had known Bud! Certainly led a full life.
Yeah, I’m sure you would have gotten along well with him. He’s a very good example of what one can accomplish if could just get off our . . . well, you know.
A well written eulogy about an interesting life… thanks.
Very nice tribute to Bud🙏🏽💕. He had a good life & touched many hearts with his talents. .
Yes, he did. Mahalo, Del.
