Alooooha UFOhana,

Mahalo Nui Loa to all of you that participated, shared your Aloha with our guests and the great PHP Finger Food!

Special thanks to Sandy for bringing guests from Hawai’i, Mary and from New Mexico, Stephanie, Mary’s Niece.

A fond welcome back our favorite Marine, Madison Sneath. Thanks for all the great trumpet solos Madison. So good to have you back with the UFOhana!

We’ve got quite a line up for next week, check it out below . . .

On Tuesday, New Year’s Eve, Ken Emerson will be performing at the Trident from 9:30PM until New Years? Anyway, click below to view the Trident website for details.

Which brings us into the New Year and our annual performance at the California Acadmeny of Science.

For those of you attending please take note of the following from our Host, Patrick Sysiong, Public Programs Lead for the CAS.

Arrival – parking and entering the building:

  • Arrival time at 11am. Please be prompt as the check in process can take some time.
  • Enter through our Business Entrance at 75 Nancy Pelosi Dr.
  • When you arrive, let the Business Reception Desk know you are here to perform and Patrick will meet your group there.
  • Reserved street parking will be marked by A frames on the North side of Nancy Pelosi Dr. in Zones C, F (See attached map). Simon will provide a sign for each car’s dashboard. Do not park in the garage, as I cannot reimburse garage fees.
  • Upon arrival, all performers and chaperones 18+ will need to complete two things: 1) Sign into the building on the iPads at our Business Reception Desk – This will let the CalAcademy know who’s in the building and how to contact individuals if there is a COVID-19 exposure; 2) Sign the Participant Waiver – I’ve attached it below for you to reference beforehand.
  • Guests will also check in at Business Reception, and will be directed onto the public floor. Guests 18+ are required to sign in on the iPads as well but not fill out the waiver.
  • The CalAcademy’s current health and safety protocols do not require proof of vaccination, negative test results, nor masking to enter the building, but they are all highly encouraged. Here is a link to our full protocols for your reference.

Green room and lunch:

  • The green room will be available from 11am to 5pm.
  • After the performances end at 2:30pm, the performers and chaperones are more than welcome to roam the museum as guests. You can leave your instruments and belongings in the green room until the museum closes at 5pm, but please note there will not be a staff member assigned to monitor the room.
  • Pizza will be provided for the performers after the 12pm performance, at around 12:30pm.
  • Feel free to bring any snacks or beverages.

Performance logistics:

  • The two performances will start promptly at 12pm and 2pm, a maximum of 20 minutes each on the Piazza Stage. (Please be aware of the timing, as the snow flurries and accompanying music will automatically start at 12:25pm and 2:25pm and cannot be turned off nor performed over.) Set up will begin 15-20 minutes before each performance.
  • A line into the academy’s sound system, single 1/4 cable line input that connects to our speakers, and a monitor speaker on stage that will face musicians will be provided.
  • You are welcome to leave equipment on the stage between the shows. Note the stage will be stanchioned off from guests, but there will not be a staff member assigned to monitor the stage.

So there you have, pretty much the same as last year.

By the way, I mentioned earlier that Comcast may be/is blocking all emails from this site.

Again, this affect just Comcast accounts.

I have submitted numerous support tickets with Comcast, to clear us from being a spammer, but have yet to reach a human being to help with this issue.

If you are a Comcast user, you can help by calling/emailing/putting in support tickets to them asking them to unblock emails from kaleikoa@piko.ws and/or UFOhana.org . Mahalo.

Those of you who subscribed under a Comcast email may want to re-subscribe under a NON-Comcast email. Like a free gmail account?
