Well, here we are at the end of another year and our last Vanikapila of 2025 this Saturday.
Click here if you’ll be joining us IRL or click below to join us in Cyberland.
Below, the images for our USPJPL night and what a fun night it was!
On behalf of Nohea and myself, we like to send a Mahalo nui loa to Pauline for her Kokua (help) with the decorations and setup for our 2025 USPJPL Vanikapila.
You are amazing Pauline! Me ke aloha pumehana.
We’d also like send our Mahalos to all of you that attended, for sharing your aloha, delicious foods and helped with clean up.
It really does take an ‘Ohana. We are truly blessed.
BTW, for those of you who may have an unused Ukulele lying around in need of a caring home, please consider donating it to our non-profit, PIKOhana.
We’ll make sure to put it in the hands of Keiki in need and provide you with a tax document for 2025.
Mahalo!

Heyyyyy? Where my Christmas Present? Are you sure it’s under here?
Thank you for volunteering — Elks care, and giving back to our community is at the heart of what we do. We could use a few more packers on Wednesday, and as a bonus, we’ll be hosting a holiday sing-along in the bar, making it a festive and fun time to be at the Lodge.
Please see below for the game plan. I’ve attached a picture of what we have gathered so far, the rest will be delivered to the lodge by Wed morning. My phone number is: 415-637-8584
Card writers:
A suggested greeting for the cards. Lisa picked up some cards today. Tiffany, please contact me and I can hand the remaining cards off to you.
May your heart be light and may this meal bring comfort and joy this Christmas. With kindness from Elks 1108.
Packers:
While most items are already packaged in the right proportions we will have to divide/package the following.
1. Red Beans – Weigh 1 pound put in a deli container 2. Black Eyed Peas – Weight 1 pound put in a deli container 3. We are getting 4 – 40 pound blocks of cheese that need to be portioned into 8 ounces. Each box will get 8 oz of cheddar and 8 oz of jack cheese. This one is probably the most challenging. Anyone up for researching and suggesting the best way to do it? 4. We will get the package of 3 chicken thighs from Costo, those will need to separated, one will go in each box. 5. We will need to separate sweet potatoes into approx 2.5 pounds per box, they will be delivered in 40 pound boxes 6. We will need to package 2 bunches of collard greens per box.
Delivery Drivers:
We will be driving this down to an event. Marin County Cooperation Team is hosting. They will be handing it out to their clientele. https://www.marincountycooperationteam.org/
Please feel free to bring a guest and don’t forget to note what dish you’ll be bringing when you register. Mahalo.
Whoooweee! Talk about one busy week! But fun!
It started with Friday night at the Elks. A wonderful dinner with a Christmas Kanikapila. Check it out below.
Prior to the Elks event, Lynnette managed to squeeze in a Winter Performance of her own at Lynwood Elementary. Click below to view their online album and videos. Mahalo Pauline, for the photos and videos.
Then Saturday Night we were asked to perform at the Gnoss Field Community Association’s Christmas Party. Click below to view the album. Who generously donates to PIKOhana.
Can you tell they literally had us in the dark? There are actually hula dancers somewhere in that “Mood Lighting” of theirs. Thankfully our dancers can fly/dance by instruments.
And today, was the UFOhana’s Fairfax Winter Fair gig. Images below.
From Nohea and Myself Mahalo Nui Loa to all of you that assisted setup, tear down and for bringing your UFOhana spirit to all these wonderful events.
We really could not have done with with your kokua (assistance / support)!
So, we should be good for major events this year and sadly early next year too.
I just got word from the California Academy of Sciences that they are no longer doing their Winter Program. Note the message from our CAS host Patrick Sysiong:
Hi Del,
Thank you so much for your interest in performing at the California Academy of Sciences. At this time we are not booking groups for the 2025 winter programming period. The Academy has decided to take a break from ‘Tis the Season for Science to invest more deeply in innovation initiatives and reimagine how we approach exhibit content, timing, and audience engagement. Our ultimate goal is to provide more original, resonant, and forward-looking experiences that maximize our mission and impact.
Welcoming partners has been one of the highlights of our year, and we have enjoyed watching guests enjoy the festive atmosphere UFOhana brings, Del.
Please feel free to reach out next year, we hope to be able to share a new vision for winter programming.
Warm regards,
Patrick
I gave our Mahalos to Patrick for giving the UFOhana the opportunity to perform at their wonderful venue. Also, our condolences to losing Claude the Albino Gater.
All said, you can see, from his response that the door is not closed . . . there’s always next year.
