080317: Campbell Hall this Friday!

Aloha UFOhana,

Reverend Chip has graciously opened the doors to us this Friday. Mahalo Chip! Hope you’re having a great time on the Garden Isle! Run time is 6:30p to 9pm-ish. BYHealthyDish , BYOGear and BYAloha!

Saturday Kanikapila will be at the Galilee Harbor 10a – 12p. A fund raising event for our ‘Ohana who live Makai side. I will be providing (skinny little, easy to carry) Flight Manuals for the event. Same as last year’s but with Ahi Wela Medley added, in case some of you still have it. BYOGear (music stands, wind clips, etc.). Bring Sun Gear also as there may not be enough space on the stage for all of us, folding chairs would be a great idea. I’m thinking it would be more inviting to have more of us in the audience anyway. See below for details on the Maritime Day event . . .

Mahalo Nui Loa to all who participated at the 2017 Napa Valley Porchfest. You all put on such a great performance. I have a feeling we may be back next year. Lee and Miriam Hamilton were such great hosts and appreciated our ‘Ohana and its positive energy.  Once again, I am guilty of that sin . . . pride.

Mahalo to Betty Ann Bruno and the Hula Mai members that made it out to this event. The Hula added a great dimension to the event, so heartwarming to see children and adults dancing along. Carolyn, arigatou for helping make this event possible for us and of course, Mahalo Nui Loa to the Hamiltons for making their porch available and their Hawaiian Hospitality.

Click the image below for photos of the event.

The weather was so good, even the couch potatoes were out . . . on their Lay-Z-Boys!

Mahalo Craig, Linda and Carolyn for the great photos. Btw, the portraits and more were all Craig’s artistic handy work even though my name appears on them. A bug when uploading from his emails.

Click here for last week’s Saturday Kanikapila and here for Friday’s.

Ok, I’ve got to get working on the Skinny Little Flight Manuals for Saturday. I leave you with this image,  courtesy of Wikio Image Werks . . .

The Ukes Are Out There . . .

A final farewell,
Friends left on a sandy shore,

Aloha A Hui Hou,

072717: We’re at the Elks this Friday!

Aloha everyone,

The Elks has once again generously offered to host another Kanikapila this Friday. We’re meeting 7-10pm, kalua pig & cabbage and shoyu chicken dinner will be available for a nominal fee.  Sounds Ono-licious!  Mahalo Nui Elks!

Speaking of Friday Kanikapila, click here for images of last week’s Friday kanikapila at UFOHQ. We had a good size gathering that night, mahalo to all that helped with cleanup and to Nohea for always being there!

Saturday we’ll be meeting 2-4pm at UFOHQ for Kanikapila. BYOMusicStands, BYOB&S (Beverages and Snacks if you need). Click here for last Saturday’s images from the Sonoma Valley Womans Club.

Sunday is the Napa Porchfest, our performance time has changed due to a scheduling snafu, so we’ll be performing 4p-5:30p instead. Our porch is located at 308 Franklin St, Napa. Please show up 30 minutes before our performance. In fact you may want to show up earlier and check out the other Bands . . . Great Local Entertainment FOR FREE! Here’s a link to the Porchfest Map and Info Graphic, Porchfest 2017 Map . Be aware that will be road closures that day as well, and here’s a link to the closure map, 2017 Porchfest Road Closures .  Car pooling would be a great idea. Leave comments here for each other if you can provide a ride or need a ride.

We’re listed at location #25. Again because of scheduling issues we’ll be the 3rd band at location #25, performing at 4pm instead of 3pm. Be sure to bring water, food (if needed), sun gear, music stands, wind clips and your Flight Manuals. Consider sharing your Flight Manuals, though it is a big porch, space is limited so we may need to overflow into the driveway, yard, etc. Oh, and don’t forget to bring some UFOhana Aloha to share with our Napa friends.

Mahalo Nui Carolyn for getting us into the the Napa Porchfest!

Well, it’s getting pretty late. Hope to see you sometime this weekend.

curtains slowly wave,
gracious lines under moonlight,
softly her breath comes . . .

Aloha A Hui Hou,

This is my hot cat cooling off position

071917: We’re at the UFOHQ this Friday . . .

Aloooooha UFOhana,

Sorry about the confusion last week, I mistakenly put “071717”  in the header. We are NOT at the Elks again this week, I fixed it on the blog to “071317” but unfortunately it doesn’t send updates once I publish the weekly blog. So, OFFICIALLY, this week we’re at the UFOHQ this Friday, 7p-10p. BYKauKau (Pot Luck – Healthy Stuff, if can), BYOMusicStand/Gear, BYAloha (as always!). Text me at 415-300-7804 for directions if you need.

Saturday we’ll be out the SVWC (Sonoma Valley Woman’s Club), 2p-4p. BYODonation ($5 at the door to help pay for operating cost), BYOGear (music stands), BYA (you know what that is!). For those of you interested, Nohea (Linda) is bringing a collection of her vintage clothing and wares. If you’d like to view her full collection at the UFOHQ, please feel free to call her at 415-572-1175 and schedule an appointment.

Again, a Mahalo Nui Loa to Na Wahine Mahina ʻoawa (Women of the Valley of the Moon) for their Aloha and opening their kahua hoʻolulu (Meeting Place / Club House) to us.

Also, Mahalo nui to the Elks for hosting us last Friday and to Tad for that great Dinner and to Mike for always being a great host. We are truly blessed to have the San Rafael Elks in our lives.

I got a little behind on posting images from the last two weeks so here they are . . .
