Well, we finally made it to the end of the week. Sorry for the late posting, I’ve been busy with fence repairs and cutting down the meadow known as our front yard. Both Friday and Saturday Kanikapila will be at the UFOHQ. Text me with your name if you need directions to the HQ at 415-300-7804.

UkEkU Gossamer clouds drift,
Symmetry of sky and earth,
Winds of change blowing.
It’s that time of the month, aka 2nd Friday Kanikapila, which means we’ll be at the Elks this Friday. Usual runtime of 7pm – 10pm. Tad will be manning the kitchen, so we’ll have dinner that night as well. Sadly, Joe Tato’s in Hawaii attending his Father’s Funeral. Please send your Aloha and good mana his way. We’ll be sure to sing one for his Papa . . . Malama Pono Joe!
This Saturday we’ll be at the Human Race event and we welcome all who are interested to attend and help encourage the participants with our Aloha and Meles. If we play loud enough we may even make them run faster (away from . . . us)? Anyway, we’ll be in the area pictured below:
We’ll be playing from 8:30a – 9:30a-ish, or until there’s no one left to play for. So if you’re an early riser, bring your coffee, breakfast bagels, flight manuals, etc. and help with this worthy cause. Bring sun gear, water, wind clips, music stands, etc. Remember that Charlotte will be raffling off two Ukuleles to help raise money their Ukulele Music instructor project.
Saturday Kanikapila will be held at the usual time of 2p-4p at the UFOHQ. BYOwnBeverate&Snacks (if you like).
Mahalo Nui to Reverend Chip for hosting us last week! As usual, we had a great time (photos). Followed up by our usual Saturday Second Chance Kanikapila (photos).
Below, a surprise guest at UFOHQ . . .
Of course the question is, how did they get into and became trapped in the yard? Well, last Saturday Linda notice that boards on the fence had blown out nearest the school. We suspect that Momma Duck and the 10 Ducklings had snuck in while the boards were down. I then fixed the boards after they had entered. It wasn’t till later that Jake and Linda noticed Momma Duck was waddling up and down the fence line. Probably looking for the opening that’s no longer there. Linda opened the gate and she eventually noticed and lead the family home.
UkekU love ravaged by time,
hope floats on waters of life,
ashes of our loved.
It’s the first Friday of the month and Reverend Chip has once again opened the Campbell Hall to the UFOhana. Mahalo Rev. Chip! Run time 6:30 pm to 9 pm-ish. BYPotLuck (healthy if possible), BYOMusicGear, and Mahalos and Alohas to share with everyone.
Saturday we’ll be at the UFOHQ, 2p – 4p, BYOB&S (Bevs and Snacks), BYOMusicStand, we’re good on chairs.
I also want to remind everyone of the following Events this month:
5K Run • Walk • Dog Walk • Community Village • Music • Food • Kids Races
Since 1982, the Bay Area Human Race, produced by Center for Volunteer & Nonprofit Leadership (CVNL), has been a critical fundraiser for many nonprofits. An established icon in the community, the race has raised over $7.7 million dollars for nearly 2,000 local nonprofits over the past 34 years. Race day features a fun and energizing 5K run/walk at the historic Marin County Civic Center lagoon park and fairgrounds, including music, Kids Races and activities, a dog walk, the Community Village Fair and a pancake breakfast. The event is open to everyone — and the entire community is invited to participate. Hundreds of volunteers, spectators and supporters donate to causes and contribute to the success.
The UFOhana will be playing 8:30a-9:20am-ish. BYOGear (books, stands, hats, clips, sunscreen, noise makers, etc.). Charlotte will be raffling off 2 Makala Ukuleles $5 / ticket, to fundraise for Ukulele Elementary Teacher Instructions.
There there’s this fundraiser for our 2nd home in Sonoma:
Please join in and help fundraise for improvements to the Sonoma Valley Woman’s Club.
Last week was a pretty busy week. But, we were lucky enough to get in a Friday Kanikapila, click here for images.
Some of you may be aware that Uncle Jack (Ciardelli), a long time member of our UFOhana, has not been doing too well. But in spite of his health issues he’s managed to attend our last few Kanikapilas. I understand that his family is keeping him company at his and Joanie’s Hale, and that Barbara and Tucker even managed to sneak in a little “Maui Hawaiian Supa Man” while visiting with him the other day. Please keep in him your thoughts this week. Send Aloha and Light to this very kind and gentle man, Joanie, and his loving family. Me Ke Aloha Pumehana Uncle Jack!
UkEkU Melodies wander,
A distant tapping of spoons,
Uncle Jack is back . . .
