We’ve been blessed with a cool Sunday and a sunny Monday. So I took advantage and reattached my roof where it came loose during the Great Dry Rot Fix of 2026.
I’ve glued and screwed down the most vulnerable sections of the roof. We should good for the next storm.
Speaking of a Cool Sunday, here are some cool photos of last Saturday’s Vanikapila. Mahalo, once again, to Nohea for the great photos.
Hauoli la Hanau (Happy Birthday) to Ted and Kimo! That Fruit Torte cake was delicious. Good choice Nohea!

Aloha ahiahi UFOhana,
The much needed ua nui (heavy rains) are back. Just in time to water the weeds I just mowed in the front yard! Speaking of the front yard check out the face lift we just gave Vendola Cafe.
It’s been 31 years since she got new paint her dry rot fixed!
I also want to announce that Professor Roberto Moniz, from Madeira, Portugal, will be lecturing at Vendola Cafe on May 9th, 11am to 4pm at our Kanikapila, Kaukau (Pot Luck) and Lecture/Concert series.
We are still working out the course ware for the lecture. I will post details to our Events page once we work it all out. Stay tuned.
If you want to learn about, hear, experience the origins of our beloved instrument and it’s homeland music you should definitely attend!
Professor Moniz’s Bio follows.
And speaking of Concerts. Lynnette is inviting the UFOhana to their annual, and probably last, concert at Lynwood Elementary. Event details below.
Below, the link to last Saturday’s Vanikapila. Mahalo nui loa to all who attended, both IRL and Virtually.
I know I’ve said this before, but Saturday with the UFOhana makes 5 days of work bearable!
Ok, maybe work’s not that bad, but pretty close.
Mahalo to Wally for contributing to the “FREE” table last week. Hope you folks found some treasures.
Btw, the FREE Table is open to anyone that wishes to share items (for free) with their UFOhana members. Just let me in advanced that you’ll be bringing stuff.
However, you must take any remaining items back with you.

He’s been suffering mini-strokes for sometime now, not holding down his food, and today, began losing his ability to stand.
Please send your Aloha and healing mana to Nohea and wish Jake a safe journey home.
aloha ka popoki aloha . . . farewell our beloved cat. Say Aloha to your brother Romeo for us!
