BOT:

Aloha All,
We’ll be at the Elks this Friday, usual run time of 7:00p to 10:00p. As you can guess by the lateness of this posting it’s been yet another PITA week. It’s the last Friday of the month so it’s Fancy Dinner Night at the Elks this Friday. Check out their link for details and menu: http://elks1108.org/Newsletter.html .  Mahalo Nui Loa to the Elks for hosting the UFOhana once again and for their undying support.

This Saturday it our ‘Test Flight’ at the Barefoot Café. Check them out here: http://www.barefootcafe.com/   Run time 2p-4p. It may be a little bit more crowded so just bring what you need and nothing more. Mahalo to Claudia for arranging this opportunity. Keep in mind that we want to make a good first impression, so please do consider ordering a meal or at least some kind of drink other than a glass of water. Btw, check out this special announcement for our premiere Kanikapila at the Barefoot:  https://ufohana.org/barefoot-cafe-5302015-brudda-alohas-ukulele-revival-and-hula-review/  Yet another amazing creation from Brudda Wikio!

Last week Friday we had the opportunity to Kanikapila at the San Pedro Elementary School, located right here in San Rafael. Lynnette brought a few of her Keiki from Lynnwood Elementary to perform with us as well. As you can see below they were well received. We thought we’d have to call in Security when Lynnette’s Keiki broke out “Johnny B. Goode”!  (Click collages below to access the photo albums). Mahalo Leslie (of Bogie’s Café) for arranging this!

Aloha everyone,

Sorry for the late (but not too late) posting, been another one of those weeks and a one more just like it coming up. TGFK! Thank God For Kanikapila! Which we’re holding at UFOHQ this Friday once again. The usual run time from 7:30 till whenever, or until the last Ukulele Player drops. I have to admit that the “Stalwarts” (not to be confused with the Walwarts, or was it Walmarts?) hung in there pretty good last week. As usual, BYPotLuck, some Healthy (but not too healthy) Main Dish/Salad/(but please, for our diabetics sake, go easy on the) Dessert, BYOGear (a music stand and maybe a folding chair) and of course some Aloha to pass onto others. Mahalo Nui Loa for all the great food last week and to Lopaka and his KP Krew for helping out with the dishes and stuff, and for your generous donations to the Yellow Bucket. Images below . . . . click collage for access to photo album . . .

That following Saturday was a bittersweet one at the Sleeping Lady, as it marked the last Kanikapila before the Sunday closing of our the Saturday home for the last 4 years. We were so fortunate to have great friends in Isult, David and Jack that they had allowed us share our Ukulele, Mele and Aloha with the Fairfax community these past years. Mahalo Nui Loa to the Owners and Crew of the Sleeping Lady and best of luck to all of you in your future endeavors!

1-051615 (Last) Sleeping Lady Kanikapila

This Saturday we’ll be at the Sonoma Valley Woman’s Club, http://sonomavalleywomansclub.org/ , run time from 2p – 4p. Betty Ann and her Halau, Hula Mai, will be hosting us at this event. We ask that everyone donate at least $5 to the SVWC to help out with opening up their wonderful Hale to us. BYOGear, we’ll have chairs, and there may be some refreshments for sale.

The following Saturday, the 30th, we’ve been invited to the Barefoot Café in Fairfax. Same run time as Sleeping Lady, located across the parking lot from Sleeping Lady, same run time as SL, 2pm – 4pm, http://www.barefootcafe.com/ .  Tony and crew has been so generous in inviting us, so we ask that you consider ordering refreshments or a meal to help out. Mahalo Nui Loa to Claudia for helping set up this opportunity.

Then June 2nd, Tuesday, Paul has arranged a “Happy Hour” Ukulele Session at the San Rafael Joe’s on 4th Street. Run time from 6:30pm to 9pm. Just a test run for now . . . we hope to have a good turn out.

Like did I mentioned like buying a plastic Uke for $9.99 in like my favorite kahlur? OMG! WTUke!
