Aloha UFOhana,

We’re back at the UFO HQ this Friday, 7p-10p, BYPotluck (ponoʻai), BYOGear (music stands, maybe a folding chair) and always, BYAloha (to share with your ‘Ohana). Mahalo to the  Pilots from last Friday and Saturday for making the Kanikapila so much Leʻaleʻa (fun) and ʻono loa (very delicious)!

Saturday Kanikapila will be at the Sonoma Valley Woman’s Club, 2p-4p, BYOGear (Music Stands), BYD (Bring Your Donation of $5 for the Woman’s Club to help keep the doors open), and of course, BYAloha, you all know what that’s for. Mahalo once again to Betty Ann Bruno, her Halau, Hula Mai and the SVWC for hosting us at their wonderful venue. and for making Sonoma second home for the UFOhana Ukulele Pilots.

Btw, I found out last night that we have a slot, July 3rd, 2p-2:45p, at the County Fair!!!!!!! Yikes! Mahalo to Gabriella, Marion and Charlie for inviting us back! The Fair Theme this year is “What A Ride”, celebrating 75 Years of innovative County Fairs. Hmmm, I think we have a few “Riding” Songs we can feature at this event, Mustang Sally, Holo Holo Ka’a (say isn’t this a Kane Hula?), just to name a few . . .  stay tuned for more!

Before we move onto other business, I have a little bit of bad news to share. Nohea just alerted me to the loss of one our Senior UFOhana Pilots, Cyril Richard “Dick” Daunt, who passed away March 7 from an aggressive cancer. Dick frequented our Saturday events . . . he first discovered us at the Sleeping Lady Café. Click image below for his Obituary. Please send your Aloha and good mana to Dick’s family . . . I want to send a big Mahalo Nui Loa to Betty Ann Bruno and members of her Halau (who drove all the way from the Island of Sonoma), Kumu Lynn Roth and her Halau, and group of intrepid members of the UFOhana that braved the weather this Sunday. The Saturday Kanikapila before (see below) was a little drier and warmer . . . Btw, Brudda Ted, can you play bass this Saturday?

Last Friday we celebrated our 16th Year (1,144th) Kanikapila at the Elks! Even Aunty Ku’uipo (97 years young) was there to celebrate with us.
