I have some sad news from our Hawaiian ‘Ohana in the Bay Area. Tennyson Lum, leader of one of the Bay Area’s Premiere Hawaiian Bands Ka Ehu Kai, suddenly passed away this past Saturday. I believe he was only 58 . . .

I had the pleasure of managing Ka Ehu Kai for sometime and became good friends with “Tenn”. He was an extremely talented song writer, singer, Ukulele Player, Drummer (Tahitian and R&R), Hula Choreographer and a good friend.  I consider him a major influence in my taking up the Ukulele and the forming the UFOhana. We had the good fortune of he and his band attend one of our UFOhana Kanikapila a while back. What a night that was,  we played music all night long, I don’t think we got to bed until after 2 AM . . .

Mahalo Tenn for all the Aloha and Mele you shared with us.

Our sincerest Aloha Pumehana to his wife Ofelia and his daughter Tenise, his sister Deanie.

Click the image below for a short video homage of my time with Tennyson and Ka Ehu Kai . . .

suddenly a loss,
a void of sadness remains,
where have they all gone?
