081821: Vanikapila 34.21

Aloha Kakou,

Hope this finds you all well, COVID free and staying out of the smoke. It’s actually starting to smell / feel like the Big Island during Pele’s volcanic activities.

We had issues with the video stream during last week’s LiveStream. But strangely enough, when I checked it tonight, it seemed the audio made it to YouTube ok and just video was hung. Even weirder is that we actually had 29 Views? Go figga . . . das why hard sometimes ya?

Sorry about the da ‘kine pidgin relapse.

Speaking of which. Someone sent me this article on CNN.COM:

Anyway, let’s all pray to the Great Tech Kahuna – Murphy, in hopes that the Comcast and YouTube powers malama pono us this week.

Janine (aka AnnieOtter on LiveStream Chat) suggested the following fun blast from the past for the Ohana . . . Mahalo Janine.

Btw, are they singing about Buffalo/Bison, is “Let’s not be L-Seven” = “Let’s not be a square?” Inquiring minds want to know . . .

The first page is the actual key Sam the Sham and the Pharaohs sing in. Which means you can play along with their video below.

The second page is in F which at first thought would be a more Ukulele Finger Friendly key. But if you look at the chord structures, it’s really not that much different from F# (the Artist’s original key). Only the C vs C# might be be a little different, of which I’ve included two versions of. The C/C# higher up the fretboard (barred) actually sounds a little better than the Finger Friendly version. Where it might help, I’ve included timing strokes (1 beat per stroke), though you may find that various versions of his video recordings may differ slight in phrasing and timing counts.

I’ll leave it up to whomever to find the perfect combination of Finger / Voice Friendly key . . . though I do enjoy playing along Sam and his Pharaohs in F# . . . but that’s just me.

Btw, we are having our monthly EOMOK (End Of Month Outdoor Kanikapila), Saturday the 28th. Click here for details and to register for the event.

Ok it’s getting to be that time of the night when typing accuracciop, typing accccksracy, tipping rccsaoiopd . . . I no can type no mo . . .

  1. Del, Thanks for the Woolly Bully. I also liked the picture of the kid lifting the water to show all the trash. I would like to share that on Facebook. Best regards, Keone
