092920: Vanikapila Iwakālua kūmālima (#25)

BOT:

Aloha Ahi Ahi Kakou,

Another week, another Vanikapila, another one on the horizon. I hope you’ve all been safe from the fires, smoke, ash and that COVID thing.

Mahalo Nui Loa to those of you who continue to support our Outdoor/Vani-kapilas. Speaking for Nohea and myself, its always been a pleasure and highpoint of our week. We are truly blessed to have such a caring and supporting ‘Ohana.

Click below for the online album from last week’s OVK.

Below a new song from Nohea to try out this week. Original sung as a duet by Willie Nelson and Ray Charles. The video below:

Oh, sing that song Ray . . . soon to be a “phonograph record” . . . what’s that?

Unfortunately they modulate to F# at the end, which is a little difficult to play on an Ukulele. The version below, they modulate to G, much easier for Ukuleles!

Click here to download the Song Sheet for Seven Spanish Angels. It’s in the same key as the video above so you can strum along.

Below, Susan Kessler shares a Virtual Aloha Festivals: Na Mele ‘Ukulele (Song of the Ukulele) Link with us from Hawai’i. Very Cool! Mahalo Nui Susan.

Mahalo Nui Kukana for sharing!

But wait! There’s even more Hawai’i (from Susan) . . .

The Hawaii Theatre is streaming Moonlight Mele concerts on Thursdays at 6pm our time. Some of them have been taped so you rewatch.

And finally, the link to this Saturday’s Vanikapila. Remember, if you want to participate in the Outdoor Vanikapila, text me at 415-300-7804. Sooner than later as space is limited.

For those of you that can’t get on the Chat Board with Live Stream and would like to request a song, please text Nohea (Linda) at 415-572-1175.

Ok, I think that’s enough homework for now. See you folks in Cyberspace this Saturday or “Lookin’ out my back door”.

She danced for us at our May Day Event at Pearl Harbor Kai Elementary school, 1966.

sadness in the sky,
an ashen taste in the breeze,
burnt forests rains down.
