072518: Fri=UFOHQ, Sat=Sonoma, Sun=PorchFest!

Aloha Ahi Ahi UFOhana,

We’ve got a busy / fun / exciting weekend coming up, starting with a Friday Kanikapila at the UFOHQ. 7p-10p, BYPotLuck, BYMusicStands, BYCoolAloha to help with da heat! Click here for last week’s Kani Album.

Saturday we’re at the SVWC (Sonoma Valley Woman’s Club) 2p-4p. BYMusicGear (we’re good with chairs) and little $$$ to donate to the SVWC and to purchase some snacks and beverages. Mahalo to the Women of the Valley of the Moon for hosting us once again! Click here for last week’s Saturday Kani photos.

Sunday we’ll be at the July 29th Napa Porchfest. We’re scheduled to perform from 3p – 5p on Lee and Miriam Hamilton’s front . . . . wait for it . . . wait for it . . . PORCH (of course)!

For those of you attending here’s  their address:

Lee and Miriam Hamilton
308 Franklin Street
Napa, CA 94559

And below, a view of The Porch from the street corner. Click image to access last year’s album of the Porch Fest . . .

Carolyn mentioned that last year the food lines at the Trucks were EPIC-LY LONG! So we’re suggesting a BYPotLuck, the Hamilton’s have offered up their beautiful lush backyard as a “Living” Green Room to the UFOhana. Let’s make it a full blown Kanikapila and bring lotsa kaukau for the the BYPL and BYOB!

I’m setting up 3 pop up tents this last year to provide shade in their driveway and a cool space for participants to overflow into (we all won’t fit on the porch), dance, talk story, etc. You may want to BYOChairs as well as BYOMusicGear (Music Stands, Wind Clips, Bottle of Water, etc.). We’ll be working from our UFOhana Gig Book this year, so bring ’em if you got ’em.

I understand that Betty Ann will be bringing a contingent of Hula Mai Dancers as well. Mahalo, Mahalo, Mahalo Betty Ann! Btw, does anybody have carpet runners or lauhala mats we could (possibly) lay out on the sidewalk in front of the porch so the hula dancers don’t burn their feet? Or maybe if you’re dancing, just wear your reef walkers? Next best thing to bare feet. Anyway, thought it might be nice to have the dancers out front this year instead of tucked in the driveway, just thinking out loud here.

Also keep in mind that there’s going be extra traffic from the Raceway this weekend, so adjust your travel time accordingly.

We’re listed under POP (?), for music type. I guess we’ve moved up from “World” or “Other” or maybe they should have a “Da Kine” classification?

Mahalo Nui Loa to Lee and Miriam Hamilton for inviting us back once again and to Carolyn for all coordinating she’s done to make this possible.

Ok, that should be enough for now. Hope you have a great rest of the week and see you at the end!

breeze softly kisses,
gentle smile across the moon,
shadows of the night.

Nah, l look better in an A-Line, like the spaghetti straps though . . .

Aloha A Hui Hou!
